If you find social media to be a hotbed of political arguments, racial slurs and the occasional death threats, you are factually accurate. You are also correct in assuming it is littered with those who have an unattainable life and or physique performing happiness they have never experienced in order to make YOU feel bad. That being said, there are ways to enjoy the world wide web without talking to IRL acquaintances or, God forbid, watching instructional videos on how to do your own Ombre. The following is a non-hierarchal non-exhaustive list of suggestions of stuff to look at on the internet that will get that frown turnt upside down :)
Follow the Queens
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of the 1000-season-long smash hit which is Ru Paul's Drag Race. Off the clock and out of the competition, these queens are reining over Instagram uncontested, bringing more Technicolor fab than a human cornea can handle. A good place to start is @kimchi_chic or @sashavelour for extravagant looks to live, gag, love and die for. Bringing it with edgy avantgarde that has an unparalleled 'je ne sais queen' are @acidbetty and @bobthedragqueen serving you looks like you've never seen.

Retweet @XplodingUnicorn
A husband to one unbelievably patient woman, a father to four daughters and the proud owner of a very free-spirited pig, James Breakwell is known for being an author, a podcaster and a comic creator but the one thing he does best is quote the hilarious and borderline genius words of his four adorable daughters, peppered with some light shade from his wife.

Following this marvelous man on Twitter comes highly recommended to those who want to see the humor in the mundane, or just wonder how exactly being an out of work writer and father of 4 (well, 5) can become your most lucrative and enjoyable job.

Have a Transcendent Dialogue... with the Dog
If you enjoyed one man's day to day conversations with his daughters you should love another man's intricate, abstract and imaginary conversations... with his dog.
Originating with a legendary Facebook page by the same name in Hebrew (and a subsequent, since seemingly-deserted one in English) the often self-deprecating and always imaginative Ofir Sasson draws, writes, voices and creates a bizarre alternate universe as funny as it is off-kilter and unassuming as it is thought-provoking. Drop into the rabbit hole of his creations for a good hour or so on YouTube, and then for God's sake throw some money at this man's Patreon so he continues to make content without resorting to eating dog food.
Pin the Most Glorious Failures of All
You've probably tried to make an origami swan, maybe you've planned Halloween themed treats or at least thought of redoing the bathroom like a picturesque beach house. Here's the thing: those attempts failed, with various degrees of misery, and you probably abashedly consigned yourself to never again try your hand at Japanese paper art, confectionery creations or interior design.
But there is one account on Pinterest dedicated to not hiding our mediocrity and ineptitude, rather celebrating them, as if we we the members of the royal court of half-assery.
As we look out at our poorly constructed kingdom, adorned with crookedly sewn robes holding a Popsicle stick scepter, Pinterest Fail is here to remind us that we are not alone; nay, in fact there are more of us who can't or won't follow a simple makeup tutorial to success, or manage to go through all necessary steps of refinishing furniture to ascendant completion.
Your a failure, and that is a beautiful thing. Time to celebrate that, poorly.
Eavesdrop on the Comical Conversations of Strangers
Something about living in a big city, with proximity to a beach coupled with outrageously priced real estate and surrounded by millions brings out the best in people, or at least the most inadvertently hilarious.
You can find such unintentionally hysterical nuggets of joy on a few different Instagram pages, two prominent ones being Overheard LA and Overheard New York. Fans of the genre may also indulge in pages like Overheard San Francisco for an extra dose of bay area hipsterdom, Overheard London for across the pond humor Overheard Bumble named after the much maligned dating app and Overheard University for collegiate nonsense.
Introducing just a few of these into your rotation of existing all-stars and faves can help you spend (or waste?) hours of your life staring at a screen, intermittently snickering, snorting and snacking while never having to conduct a single argument with a pepe the frog avatar, or ernestly arguing with flat earthers and anti vaxxers. You're welcome and good luck :)
